I’ve been trying to get to some of these topics all week, but have been pressed because of freelancing deadlines and preparations for an upcoming Poynter Institute workshop. More on that later, as well as a bit more on what’s in my Google Reader’s shared items file about online journalism that have caught my attention this week:
• The food fight between Ron Rosenbaum and Jeff Jarvis and the journalism blame-game
• What the most valuable roles in the news organizations of the future are likely to be
• Live updates from an off-the-record “emergency” meeting of top newspaper honchos.
Meanwhile, more and more journalists are losing their jobs. A third round of cuts this year at the Baltimore Sun will skip buyouts and go directly to layoffs, according to the guild there. And a talented multimedia journalist, whose work I noted here, just found out he’s been let go.
